Art Director / Concept ArtistGlobal Mission You are the visual visionary of the game's universe. Your mission is to define, champion, and translate the game's core mechanics and narrative into a striking, cohesive visual identity. You will not only produce high-level concepts for characters, environments, and objects but also establish the artistic pillars that guide the entire art team from pre-production to final delivery.
Responsibilities
Art Direction & Vision
- Define the Visual Pillars: Establish and document the project's art style, creating comprehensive style guides, mood boards, and visual targets to align the entire production team.
- Quality & Consistency: Oversee the artistic quality of the project, ensuring all visual assets align with the established art direction.
- Mentorship & Feedback: Provide clear, constructive feedback, paintovers, and mentorship to other artists to elevate the team's overall output and maintain visual cohesion.
Conceptual Creation & Exploration
- High-Level Concepting: Produce foundational illustrations, sketches, and 3D mock-ups that set the benchmark for the unique visual identity of the project.
- Detailed Design: Develop comprehensive, production-ready concepts for key characters, props, and environments.
- Visual Innovation: Propose bold visual ideas and experiment with different styles to enrich the game universe and push the boundaries of the medium.
Cross-Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Strategic Alignment: Partner with the Creative Director, Lead Game Designer, and Technical Director to ensure the artistic vision effectively serves the gameplay, narrative, and technical constraints.
- Pipeline Development: Collaborate with technical artists to ensure visual concepts can be successfully integrated into the game engine, specifically addressing VR/MR requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present and pitch visual concepts and artistic strategies to stakeholders, clearly articulating the why behind visual choices.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Digital Art, Game Design, Illustration, or a related field.
- Significant experience in the gaming industry, with a proven track record in a Lead Concept Artist or Art Director role.
Technical Skills:
- Expert mastery of digital drawing tools (Photoshop, Procreate, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with 3D pipelines and tools (Blender, ZBrush, Maya, etc.) to aid in block-outs and spatial design.
- Understanding of game engines (Unity, Unreal) and how concept art translates into real-time environments.
Professional Skills:
