Job Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Design Architectural, the Architectural Technical Designer transforms design concepts into manufacturable realities. This role bridges creative intent with engineering practicality, ensuring every project meets technical, aesthetic, and fabrication standards.

You'll work closely with design managers, project managers, engineers, and production teams to create accurate technical drawings, improve manufacturability, and support continuous process improvement across the organization.

What You'll Do

Technical Design & Documentation

  • Produce detailed technical drawings and fabrication files using Revit (Must have proficient in revit and a good understanding of the software)
  • Ensure all drawings are dimensionally accurate, compliant with codes, and fully manufacturable

Engineering Collaboration

  • Partner with professional engineers to validate and optimize structural designs
  • Recommend engineering approval for complex or high-risk projects
  • Contribute to simplifying the stamping and approval process through accurate technical design

Manufacturing Integration

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and estimation teams to determine the most efficient production methods
  • Spend time in the shop(Possible Virtual) to understand processes, materials, and equipment capabilities
  • Propose material or assembly improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and sustainability

Continuous Improvement & Quality

  • Identify opportunities to streamline design-to-manufacture workflows
  • Actively challenge existing methods for accuracy, efficiency, and innovation
  • Document and share best practices to support team learning and standardization

What You Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in architectural or manufacturing design
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (experience with SolidWorks(nice to have) or Inventor an asset)
  • Strong understanding of materials, structures, and fabrication processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

  • Experience with architectural faades, canopies, or metal-clad structures
  • Familiarity with signage or environmental branding
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Design, or Engineering
