JOB SUMMARY
The Applications Integration Manager – Clinical & Enterprise Systems oversees the design, build, implementation, optimization, and governance of integrations across the organization's clinical platforms (e.g., HIS/EMR, LIS, RIS/PACS, patient portals, medical devices) and enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP/Finance, HRIS, Supply Chain, Revenue Cycle, CRM). The role ensures that applications and interfaces are aligned with clinical, operational, and administrative workflows—enabling secure, reliable, and interoperable data exchange across facilities and service lines.
A key responsibility is to provide technical leadership on integration architecture, interface standards, monitoring/observability, and incident/problem management, while partnering with process owners, analysts, infrastructure, security, and vendors to deliver scalable integration solutions. The role also contributes to the organization's application roadmap, integration strategy, and delivery governance (scope, schedule, quality, risk, and SLAs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Integration Strategy, Architecture & Governance
Lead the development and execution of integration strategy and standards for clinical and enterprise systems, ensuring consistent patterns for API, HL7/FHIR, file-based exchange, and event-driven messaging.
Define target integration architectures (point-to-point vs. hub/spoke vs. ESB), environment standards (DEV/UAT/PROD), release controls, and documentation requirements.
Translate business priorities into integration roadmaps and technical plans; proactively evaluate gaps and propose solutions aligned with future operational and healthcare needs.
Establish and enforce governance for interface lifecycle management (intake → design → build → testing → cutover → monitoring), including change control and risk management.
2) Integration Delivery (Build, Test, Deploy)
Lead end-to-end delivery of integration initiatives: requirements gathering, interface specification, mapping, transformation rules, security controls, test strategy, deployment and hypercare.
Own integration deliverables such as: interface control documents (ICDs), data mapping specifications, message schemas, API contracts, and runbooks/operational procedures.
Ensure strong alignment between clinical workflows (ADT/orders/results/charges) and enterprise workflows (procurement-to-pay, record-to-report, hire-to-retire, claim-to-cash).
Drive disciplined execution across competing constraints (scope, schedule, quality, budget, resources, risks) to achieve predictable delivery outcomes.
3) Reliability, Performance, Monitoring & Support
Ensure integration reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, log management, reconciliation checks, and well-defined escalation paths.
Lead troubleshooting of complex cross-system incidents (message failures, data mismatches, downtime scenarios), including root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
Define operational KPIs/SLOs and continuous improvement plans to reduce interface failures, improve turnaround time, and minimize application downtime.
Provide oversight for application administration and support processes tied to integrations (queues, channels, certificates/keys, scheduled jobs, service accounts).
4) Data Integrity, Interoperability & Decision Support Enablement
Ensure end-to-end data integrity: validation rules, master data alignment, mapping quality, duplicate handling, and reconciliation mechanisms across systems.
Partner with analytics/reporting teams to ensure integrations support enterprise reporting models and operational dashboards (near real-time where needed).
Contribute to enterprise data model alignment, reporting structures, and dashboard designs by ensuring source-to-target accuracy and traceability.
5) Stakeholder, Vendor & Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate with process owners, clinical leaders, operations, finance, HR, and IT teams to design optimized solutions and resolve system-related pain points.
Manage vendor and partner engagements related to interfaces/integration delivery, including SLA expectations, issue resolution cadence, and acceptance criteria.
Mentor and guide junior developers/integration engineers; review designs and code/configuration to uphold internal quality standards and delivery discipline.
6) Security, Compliance & Quality
Ensure integrations comply with organizational security protocols, privacy requirements, audit needs, and quality assurance standards.
Implement secure patterns for authentication/authorization (API keys/OAuth where applicable), encryption in transit/at rest as applicable, and least-privilege access.
7) Other Duties
Perform other related tasks that may be assigned by the immediate superior in support of applications delivery and operational excellence.
