Application Support Engineer (Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI))

Responsibilities

• Coordinates across support teams to swiftly resolve disruptions to Power BI services, performs root cause analysis, and implements preventative measures.

• Approves production readiness of Power BI solutions and application deployments.

• Reviews performance trends across the broader technology portfolio and initiates actions to address areas at risk for potential impacts.

• Demonstrates deep understanding of Power BI platform components, including workspace management, report development, and dashboard optimization, parameters, Power BI gateway configuration, license management

• Administers processes related to code management and deployment, leveraging automation tools such as Python, Terraform, and Ansible.

• Provides feedback and mentoring to team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and policies.

• May lead initiatives of varying degrees of complexity, including platform upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning projects.

• Participates in an on-call rotation to ensure timely resolution of critical issues.

• Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies, proactively recommending improvements to the platform.

• Evaluates capacity utilization and initiates projects to address areas of excess and shortages.

• Engages with various teams to implement performance tuning recommendations and optimize platform operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• 3+ years of total relevant work experience in Power BI Administration.

• In-depth knowledge of Power BI tools, including workspace management, report development, and dashboard optimization.

•Proficiency in code migration across environments (Development to Test, Staging to Prod etc.) via automation for automation and deployment. (python ansible etc.)

• Strong analytical skills for investigating and resolving platform issues, including root cause analysis.

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) that can be tailored depending on the audience (from technical teams to senior management).

• Ability to participate in off-hour work, including scheduled on-call rotations.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as lead others, including implementing new technology or leading critical situation calls to resolve incidents effectively.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

• Power BI platform Administration and Optimization

• Microsoft Fabric administration

Preferred Skills

• Experience with other business intelligence tools such as Qlik, MicroStrategy, or Business Objects.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS for hosting and managing services.

• Knowledge of statistical models for problem analysis.

• Incident and problem management experience.

• Automation tools such as Python, Terraform, and Ansible.

Number of years experiences needed: 3+ Years Relevant Experience

Work Arrangement

• No. of hours per week: 45 hours

• Shift Schedule: US hours, 8AM to 6PM ET

• Work Set up: Hybrid

• Number of days in a week for onsite sched: 2x a week

• Project Location (During onsite): Mandaluyong, Robinsons Cybergate Tower 2
