Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Application Database Administrator, you will specialize in managing and optimizing databases to ensure the smooth operation and efficient performance of applications relying on databases. Your focus will be on installing, configuring, and maintaining databases, as well as implementing disaster recovery strategies and performing performance tuning. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Install and Configure Databases: Install, configure, and maintain databases to ensure high availability and optimal performance. This includes setting up database systems, defining database structures, and configuring database parameters.
- Implement Disaster Recovery Strategies: Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies to minimize data loss and ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
- Perform Performance Tuning: Analyze database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize database efficiency and responsiveness.
- Maintain Database Systems: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, upgrades, and patches, to ensure database systems remain secure and up-to-date.
- Ensure High Availability: Implement measures to ensure high availability, including clustering, replication, and failover strategies.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Database Management Exposure: Exposure to managing and optimizing databases using product MS SQL Server.
- Can assess and identify DB issues then escalate with DB owner / L2 DBA
- Perform a daily routine of morning and evening health check
- Support the monthly maintenance / patching activity and perform DB failover

- Database Performance Optimization: Exposure to performance tuning measures to optimize database efficiency and responsiveness, including analyzing database performance and implementing tuning measures.
- Advanced Database Features: Experience working with advanced database features, such as clustering, replication, and failover strategies, to ensure high availability.
- Scripting and Automation: Exposure to scripting and automation tools relevant to database management and optimization, enhancing database administration tasks.
