Whats The Role All About
The Maintenance Safety Specialist/Officer is responsible for supporting the safe execution of aircraft maintenance and engineering operations by identifying hazards, analyzing risks, and recommending safety measures. This role ensures compliance with regulatory safety standards, assists in accident/incident investigations, and contributes to the improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) within PALs Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure safety compliance in all Maintenance and Engineering operations, including coordination with the Technical Operations Department.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, focusing on safety-critical aspects such in maintenance and engineering operations.
- Assist in identifying unsafe practices or conditions and recommend preventive actions in accordance with PALs Safety and Compliance standards.
- Support predictive and preventive safety efforts, using data-driven analysis to anticipate risks and mitigate potential hazards before incidents occur.
- Collect, review, and analyze safety reports, and present findingsincluding identified risks and trendsto department heads and other key stakeholders.
- Perform data analysis and support development of predictive safety measures using operational safety data, including knowledge and application of AQD (Aviation Quality Database).
- Participate in and support the promotion of safety through bulletins, awareness campaigns, and serving as Secretariat during safety meetings and TSAG (Technical Safety Advisory Group) sessions.
- Investigate maintenance-related incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the development and dissemination of safety procedures, manuals, and safety-related technical content.
- Provide technical assistance in the development of training materials and conduct safety briefings and presentations to maintenance and engineering personnel.
- Ensure compliance with relevant CAAP, airport authorities, and international aviation safety regulations.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives through quality audit follow-ups and active participation in SMS implementation and enhancement.
Who Are We Looking For
- Must be a graduate of Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Avionics, or a related technical field.
- Must hold a valid Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) license issued by CAAP or a PRC license in Aeronautical Engineering.
- Must have airline experience, preferably in maintenance operations.
- At least 2 years experience as a licensed Aircraft Mechanic, Maintenance Engineer, or Technical Specialist.
- Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on maintenance experience, especially mechanics.
