Our platform helps hospitals and health services digitise clinical workflows, from pre-admission screening to post-discharge follow-up, ensuring patients are better prepared, clinical teams have richer data, and care is safer.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Philippine team and work across the whole of our clinical platform - PHP on the backend, and a user-facing interface that clinicians and patients rely on every day. This isn't an AI or machine learning role.

Our platform runs on CodeIgniter (PHP) with a legacy jQuery frontend, with parts already converted to Vue.js. Two pieces of modernisation are underway: a migration of the backend toward Laravel, and a migration of the frontend to a modern JavaScript framework (React or Vue). This role sits at the centre of the frontend migration, you'll help set its direction, establish the patterns the rest of the team follows, and take on the hardest parts of the work yourself. It's the kind of role where the decisions you make will still be visible in the codebase in five years.

You'll be one of the most technically capable engineers in the team, and you'll be expected to act like it: bringing proposals rather than waiting for direction, and raising the standard of what the team ships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and maintain features across the full stack of our clinical platform, from PHP backend services through to the user interface.
• Play a central role in our migration to a modern JavaScript framework, helping shape the approach, building the foundational patterns and components, and driving the hardest parts of the work.
• Contribute to our backend modernisation toward Laravel, working pragmatically and incrementally within a large legacy codebase.
• Use AI tooling to work faster, and trade techniques with a team already doing the same.
• Set a high bar in code review, testing, and technical design, and raise the standard of the code around you.
• Partner with product, design, and customer success to refine requirements, helping make sure we build the right thing, not just build it right.
• Ensure your work meets our security, privacy, and compliance obligations as a healthcare platform.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across the stack, including performance and integration problems.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and team rituals.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Essential

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• A track record of operating at a senior level (you're the person others bring the hard problems to).
• Deep PHP expertise, including substantial hands-on experience with Laravel.
• Strong experience with a modern JavaScript framework (React or Vue), including a meaningful role in migrating or modernising a legacy frontend.
• Solid command of core JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, not just framework-level familiarity.
• Comfortable working hands-on in large legacy codebases, with a pragmatic, incremental approach to modernising them.
• Demonstrated daily use of AI-assisted development tools, with clear judgement about their limits.
• Strong experience with MySQL, including query performance and indexing.
• Version control (Git) and modern workflows (CI/CD, automated testing).
• Excellent communication skills, and the confidence to put forward a technical position and defend it.
• Able to maintain solid daily overlap with our Australian team.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with CodeIgniter or another legacy PHP MVC framework.
• Automated testing at depth (PHPUnit, Codeception, Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent).
• Experience building or contributing to a design system / component library.
• Background in healthcare, clinical systems, or another regulated industry.
• Medical software integrations (HL7, Mirth Connect) exposure.
• Containerisation (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS).
• Prior experience in a SaaS product company.
