About the Role

You will design, build, and integrate AI and LLM-powered features into our strategic backoffice Customer Adminplatform, used daily by our Customer Service and Compliance teams. This is a hands-on backend engineering role with a focus on applied AI not research. You will work within a structured engineering environment to deliver safe, observable, and auditable AI capabilities that support operational workflows in a regulated domain.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain backend services that integrate LLM capabilities into Customer Admin workflows (e.g. summarisation, classification, content generation, guided decision support).
• Integrate with LLM providers via an AI Gateway, managing prompt routing, model selection, and fallback behaviour.
• Implement prompt configuration, versioning, and quality logging.
• Expose APIs for AI-generated content and human-in-the-loop edits and ratings.
• Run and test AI services locally using Docker-based environments, including supporting services and dependencies.
• Use data exploration tools (e.g. self-service Databricks) to validate datasets and investigate quality issues.
• Design and implement orchestration patterns for multi-step AI workflows (agentic-style), ensuring strong guardrails, observability, and auditability.
• Integrate tool-calling/function-calling patterns with internal services in a safe, permission-aware structure using controlled actions with approvals.

What You Bring

• 35+ years of backend engineering experience (Python and/or TypeScript preferred).
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, or similar) into production or near-production systems.
• Strong API design and integration skills.
• Experience building and running services locally using Docker, including multi-service environments.
• Comfortable working with Docker alternatives such as Colima or Rancher.
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering, including structured prompts, few-shot patterns, and output parsing.
• Strong focus on safety, observability, and auditability in AI systems.

Nice To Have

• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs via an AI Gateway.
• Experience designing agent-style or multi-step AI workflows, with strong guardrails, permissions, and auditability.
• Familiarity with prompt versioning, quality evaluation, and AI observability.
• Familiarity with data warehouses (Databricks).
• Experience working in regulated domains (iGaming, fintech, compliance).
