Role Description

The AI Engineer will help build and support the systems we deliver to clients. This role focuses on creating practical AI solutions using custom GPTs, API integrations, and multi step agent workflows. You will work with our team to turn workflow needs into clear, functioning tools that make our clients operations lighter and more efficient. The work is hands on and fast paced, and it requires someone who is resourceful, comfortable with Python at a working level, and confident navigating technical documentation. This is a remote role based in the Philippines, and you will collaborate closely with our consulting and technical leads to support builds, testing, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements across client projects. Candidates must be able to work Eastern or Pacific hours.

What we need

• Strong API development experience working with real external services.
• Production level Python. Can build clean functions, handle errors, and write code someone else can pick up.
• Experience structuring prompts, context, and instructions for consistent outputs.
• Hands on use of the OpenAI API. At minimum chat completions. Bonus for tools, function calling, or file-based workflows.
• Ability to debug with logs, test calls, and systematic troubleshooting.
• Ability to take a spec and build quickly without overthinking or needing close supervision.
• Experience creating at least one custom GPT or similar solution that real users touched.
• Understanding of multi-step, agent like workflows. Knows how models make decisions, branch steps, and call tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or any orchestration framework.
• Experience with vector databases and building simple RAG pipelines.
• Process thinking background. Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
• Has built for multiple clients or teams. Comfortable iterating based on feedback.
• Experience with function calling, tool use, and maintaining conversation state.
• Awareness of security basics. Protecting API keys, handling sensitive data, and avoiding risky practices.
• Clear communicator who can explain what they built and why, in simple terms.
• Comfortable documenting how something works so others can use it.
• Understanding of how AI fits inside business workflows and where it breaks.

General expectations

• Self-directed and dependable in a remote setting.
• Strong problem solving and ability to ship fast.
• Curious about AI behavior and willing to test assumptions.
• Formal degree is a plus but not required if experience is solid.
