ֿAI Automation Engineer — Freelance / Remote
Toolip is an AI-first automation agency. We build AI agents, RAG systems, WhatsApp bots, and custom automations for businesses.
We're growing and need an experienced freelance engineer who works AI-first at a high level and ships production systems end-to-end. This is a remote, project-based role with flexible hours and significant room to grow into a long-term engagement if the fit is right.
What you'll do:
- Build and deploy n8n workflows and custom-built automation projects for client work
- Ship Node.js / TypeScript projects when n8n isn't the right tool - APIs, queue systems, admin dashboards, webhooks
- Build WhatsApp bots, AI agents, RAG systems, and custom solutions end-to-end
- Integrate with third-party APIs (messaging, CRM, booking, ERP, payment, and more)
- Deploy and maintain on cloud infrastructure (VPS, Docker, databases)
- Debug production issues, set up logging, monitoring, and alerting
You bring:
Must have:
- 2+ years of hands-on workflow automation experience (n8n & custom-built)
- Strong Node.js / TypeScript
- Deep hands-on experience with AI-first development — Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, and custom skills on real projects, not tutorials
- WhatsApp Business API / bot-building experience in production
- Experience with Supabase or equivalent database tools
- CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability
- Comfort with Git, SSH, Docker, Linux CLI - you can deploy a project from scratch without hand-holding
- Ability to read API docs and build integrations independently
- Track record of shipped projects we can discuss in detail
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
Nice to have:
- RAG systems in production
- Customer support platform integrations (Chatwoot or similar)
- Multi-tenant system design

Compensation:
Competitive, based on experience and project scope. Paid per project or hourly - we'll agree per engagement.
This starts as a freelance / contract engagement. If the collaboration works, there's strong potential to grow into an ongoing long-term relationship, including the possibility of a full-time role down the line.
