The Opportunity
The Actuarial Senior Manager, SG VSSC is responsible for managing and advancing Manulife Global Solutions (MGS) Singapore Valuation Shared Services Center (SG VSSC). This role drives delivery excellence, develops actuarial talent, strengthens stakeholder partnerships, and ensures the continued growth and success of the Singapore VSSC.
Established in 2012, MGS Actuarial has grown into a global center of excellence with over 200 professionals supporting Valuation, Asset & Liability Modelling, Experience Analytics, Pricing, and other core actuarial services. Position Responsibilities
Actuarial Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Provide leadership for actuarial valuation and modeling, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Lead the development, validation, and implementation of model enhancements, assumption updates, basis changes, and new product initiatives in accordance with actuarial standards and governance requirements.
- Review actuarial models, and results to ensure technical soundness and consistency.
- Communicate key findings, risks, recommendations, and project updates to senior stakeholders and actuarial leadership.
- Manage quarterly valuation controls and reporting processes, including reserve movement analysis, Source of Earnings validation, New Business Embedded Value reporting, capital reporting, and related governance activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, documentation standards, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Support audits, regulatory reviews, basis change initiatives, and other strategic programs.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks to maintain delivery excellence and business continuity.
- Partner with business units, regional actuarial teams, and other stakeholders to deliver actuarial solutions and support strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on actuarial modeling activities, and reporting outcomes.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and innovation initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen actuarial models, tools, controls, and operating practices across the VSSC.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience within insurance or financial services.
- Associate designation (ASA, AASP, or equivalent) with significant progress toward Fellowship.
- Proven leadership experience managing actuarial teams, functions, or large-scale initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial valuation modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
