As an Accounting Manager embedded with the client's clients, you will lead critical parts of the monthly close, ensure high-quality reporting, and improve processes across multiple clients. You will also coach team members, manage deadlines, and support client relationships as the client scales.
Work Schedule: 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday-Friday

- Required onsite during monthly and quarterly team meetings and when required by the manager/client
JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
- Own and manage the month-end close process for assigned clients, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules prepared by the team.
- Ensure financial statements are complete, accurate, and aligned with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare and review close deliverables such as financial statements, management reporting, budget vs actuals, forecasts, and board or investor reporting.
- Identify issues, risks, and unusual variances, then communicate findings clearly with clients and internal leaders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of each client's business model, accounting operations, and reporting needs.
- Partner with client stakeholders to gather information, resolve questions, and keep deliverables moving.
- Support day-to-day finance operations as needed, including invoicing, accounts payable, expense reviews, vendor coordination, and payroll support.
- Coordinate with external partners such as tax accountants, auditors, and banks, including compliance and audit request support.
- Improve and standardize month-end close workflows, templates, and documentation across clients.
- Help build scalable internal processes for client onboarding, reporting, and operational visibility.
- Support accounting system implementations and optimizations, including QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, and Bill.com (or similar tools).
- Train, mentor, and support Senior Accountants and Accounting Staff to meet Ballast quality expectations.
- Provide clear feedback, review notes, and coaching to improve team performance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with Ballast leadership on workload planning, staffing needs, and client coverage.
- Contribute to special projects and ad hoc analyses to support internal operations and client needs.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA license (required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (audit and/or corporate accounting).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S.-based accounting and reporting practices.
- Proven month-end close experience, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Experience reviewing work and guiding junior team members (formal or informal leadership experience is a plus).
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze and explain financial data clearly.
- Comfort using modern finance tools such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, and Bill.com (or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with professionalism working with U.S.-based founders and executives.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-starter who can work independently in a remote setup while collaborating with a global team.
- Client-service mindset, high attention to detail, and strong ownership of deliverables.
