Cofense is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to lead the global financial close and reporting process and manage a team of accounting professionals. Reporting to the Global Controller, this role owns the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across Cofense's U.S. and international entities, ensures the accuracy and timeliness of consolidated financial statements, and serves as a key partner to the Controller on technical accounting, audit, and process improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can both manage a team and stay close to the detail of a multi-entity close.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Own and manage the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar across all entities, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team.
  • Oversee consolidation of international subsidiaries, including intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation (CTA), and equity-method entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 810, ASC 830) and, where applicable, local statutory requirements.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis on financial results, investigating drivers and providing commentary to senior leadership.
  • Own lease accounting under ASC 842, including new and modified lease assessments, ROU asset and lease liability schedules, and related disclosures.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors; manage audit request lists, timelines, and technical accounting memos to support clean, on-schedule completion of the annual consolidated audit and international statutory audits.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over the close and reporting process, identifying and remediating gaps proactively.

Team Management & Development

  • Directly supervise, mentor, and develop the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable Manager, setting clear priorities and providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Manage team workload and capacity through the close cycle, adjusting assignments to meet deadlines and cover gaps during turnover or reduced headcount.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new team members, including documentation of close procedures and system workflows.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support career development planning for direct reports.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable team culture and act as an escalation point for issues the team cannot resolve independently.

Process, Systems & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with the Global Controller on technical accounting research and documentation for new transactions, standards, and entities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of close processes, including automation and system optimization within NetSuite and related tools (e.g., Tipalti, Navan).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Support ad hoc projects such as system implementations, entity restructurings, and process documentation

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA license required or actively in progress.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity or global consolidation experience; public accounting (audit) background a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing or supervising accounting staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency translation.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system strongly preferred; SaaS or technology industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines across a lean team, with a track record of meeting close timelines under resource constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external auditors.
  • High attention to detail balanced with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consolidated close is delivered accurately and on schedule every period, with a well-documented, controlled process.
  • The accounting team is engaged, developing, and able to absorb change (headcount shifts, new entities, system changes) without disruption to the close.
  • The annual consolidated audit and all international statutory audits are completed on time with minimal adjustments and strong auditor feedback.
