Job Description
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to join our team. The role will be responsible for supporting the company's overall accounting operations, including general accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, and statutory compliance.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on accounting experience, can independently manage assigned accounting activities, and is comfortable coordinating with internal teams, auditors, and external parties to ensure accurate and timely financial records and reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and ensure proper recording of financial transactions.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and other accounting reports.
- Handle and monitor general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual balances.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Support and perform month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring transactions and adjustments are properly recorded.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules, including Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
- Monitor and reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as applicable.
- Assist in cash flow monitoring and preparation of financial information needed by management.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, as required.
- Ensure completeness and proper documentation of accounting transactions and supporting records.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of applicable tax and statutory requirements and ensure compliance with relevant government regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and prepare schedules and documents required for audits.
- Coordinate with banks, government agencies, suppliers, clients, and other external parties on accounting-related matters, when necessary.
- Work closely with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely submission of required information.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with broad exposure to general accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of general accounting, journal entries, general ledger, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
- Experience in preparing financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Working knowledge of Philippine taxation and statutory compliance is preferred.
- Experience coordinating with external auditors and preparing audit requirements is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, PivotTables, and other functions used for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Organized and capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with different teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- CPA is an advantage but not required.
