The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial transactions. This role manages the accounting team and ensures timely preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports. The Accounting Manager also supports management in financial planning, audit activities, and process improvement initiatives within the retail environment.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Supervise the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for business decisions.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure proper documentation and control over sales, inventory, and cost of goods sold transactions.
- Coordinate and maintain accounting systems and procedures aligned with retail operations.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Collaborate with operations and management to monitor performance against financial targets.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, government reporting, and corporate financial policies.
- Maintain updated knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments such as operations, procurement, and marketing to align financial practices.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Background in retail, FMCG, or distribution industry is highly preferred.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or similar ERP software).
