Position Overview
The Digital Stronghold is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple companies and brands within a fast-paced e-commerce environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, leading an accounting team, and maintaining strong internal controls.
Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in driving operational excellence, improving accounting processes, supporting audits and acquisitions, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate has a strong technical accounting background, experience in e-commerce accounting, and the ability to lead multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting operations for multiple legal entities and brands.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, vendor bills, and other accounting transactions.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting.
- Manage multi-entity accounting, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members by providing coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Monitor workloads, establish priorities, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Support external audits by coordinating requests, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Assist with acquisitions, opening balance sheets, accounting integrations, and other special accounting projects.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and schedules for leadership.
- Partner with the Director of Accounting to support strategic initiatives and improve overall accounting operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Required: Experience in an e-commerce accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
- Experience with inventory accounting, payment processors, and sales tax.
- Experience leading and developing accounting staff.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to lead a remote team and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
