About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Remote Accountant with strong bookkeeping experience to support our AU-based business. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reporting and reconciliations, and supporting compliance with Australian accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities.
- Record financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements.
- Process invoices, supplier payments, reimbursements, and expense reports.
- Assist with payroll preparation and reporting.
- Prepare financial reports including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with AU accounting standards and internal financial policies.
- Collaborate with management and external accountants for BAS, tax preparation, and financial reporting.
- Monitor financial discrepancies and proactively flag issues or irregularities.
- Maintain organised financial documentation and records.
- Assist with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required.
- Ability to take calls and communicate with stakeholders when needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Accountant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance-related role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping fundamentals.
- Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online, or similar accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and MS Office applications.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Australian clients and knowledge of AU accounting practices, tax, and compliance requirements.
- Background in construction, property, or related industries is highly preferred.
- Experience with project costing, job costing, or construction accounting is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Jobpac / Jobpack is highly desirable.
