The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This role is critical in improving the integrity of financial information, building robust processes, and supporting the business with clear financial insights.
You will work closely with leadership and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting, strong cashflow management, and alignment between financials, inventory systems, and sales channels.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Clean-Up
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Lead reconciliation of key accounts, including resolving historic issues
- Ensure alignment between accounting systems (Xero) and inventory systems (e.g. CIN7)
- Improve processes to ensure reliable and consistent financial reporting
Inventory & Margin Management (Essential)
- Take ownership of inventory accounting and reconciliation across systems
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and stock integrity
- Reconcile inventory between systems and financial records (CIN7 ↔ Xero)
- Support accurate COGS and margin reporting
- Assist with stock adjustments, sample sales, and inventory movements
- Work with operations to improve inventory tracking, processes, and reporting
Cashflow Management
- Monitor daily cash position and manage liquidity
- Build and maintain short-term and medium-term cashflow forecasts
- Support working capital management, including debtors and creditors
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee AP and AR processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage supplier payments and customer invoicing
- Reconcile key balances and resolve discrepancies
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NZ tax requirements (GST, PAYE, etc.)
- Support preparation of statutory filings and year-end processes
- Work with external advisors where required
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements across finance processes
- Support system improvements and integration between platforms
- Build scalable processes to support growth
Business Partnering
- Work closely with the leadership team to provide financial insights
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide visibility on performance, margins, and key drivers
About You
You are detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working in a business that is evolving and improving its processes. You enjoy getting into the detail, fixing issues, and building better ways of working.
You will ideally have:
- 3–5+ years experience in a similar role (NZ experience preferred)
- Strong experience in inventory management and accounting (essential)
- Experience with CIN7 (or similar inventory system) highly desirable
- Experience with NZ tax (GST, PAYE) and exposure to UK tax requirements
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with data
- Experience with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting systems
