Key Responsibilities:
A. General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for all four entities, ensuring that every account is complete, correctly classified, and supported by adequate documentation.
- Perform and oversee all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures including preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and deferrals.
- Review and approve journal entries prepared by Junior Accountants prior to posting.
- Prepare and review trial balances; ensure the proper classification of revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
- Coordinate and perform intercompany reconciliations and eliminations in preparation for consolidated reporting.
- Maintain a month-end close checklist and ensure all tasks are completed within the prescribed close schedule.
B. Financial Reporting
- Prepare draft financial statements (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Comprehensive Income, Statement of Cash Flows, and Statement of Changes in Equity) for review by the Finance Director.
- Produce detailed monthly management reports including variance analyses comparing actual results against budget and prior-year figures.
- Prepare budget-vs-actual comparisons with written commentary explaining significant variances.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated Group financial reports, including intercompany eliminations.
- Prepare financial data and supporting schedules for board presentations, management meetings, and investor/lender reporting.
C. Tax Compliance
- Prepare and coordinate the filing of all monthly, quarterly, and annual BIR returns for all entities, including:
◦ Monthly VAT (BIR Form 2550M) and Quarterly VAT (2550Q)
◦ Monthly Expanded Withholding Tax (BIR Form 0619-E) and Quarterly EWT Return (BIR Form 1601-EQ)
◦ Quarterly and Annual Income Tax Returns (BIR Forms 1702Q and 1702)
◦ Compensation-based withholding tax returns (BIR Form 1601-C)
◦ Annual Alphalist of Employees and Payees
- Maintain complete and organized tax schedules, supporting workpapers, and proof of payment for all filings.
- Ensure all tax payments are made on or before the statutory due dates to avoid penalties and interest.
- Assist the Finance Director in responding to BIR Letter of Authority (LOA) investigations, assessments, and correspondence.
- Review the tax treatment of transactions to identify potential exposures or planning opportunities.
D. Audit & Internal Controls
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during the annual audit engagement — coordinate requests, provide schedules, and ensure timely delivery of all required documentation.
- Coordinate with internal auditors as needed, facilitating walkthroughs of accounting processes and providing evidence of controls.
- Identify weaknesses or inefficiencies in accounting processes and recommend process improvements or system enhancements.
- Ensure all accounting activities comply with PFRS/IFRS standards, internal accounting policies, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain an audit-ready file for each entity at all times.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
Licensure: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) — strongly preferred
Experience: At least 3-4 years of general accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment
Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of PFRS/IFRS, BIR regulations, and Philippine payroll taxation
Systems: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or equivalent) and advanced MS Excel
Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, ability to meet deadlines, and supervisory capability
