Role Overview

The Inside Sales Account Officer is a full-cycle solar consultant responsible for managing the entire customer journeyfrom lead generation, closing, installation, to referralusing digital tools and internal coordination. While working remotely or in-office, this role ensures a seamless and high-conversion experience by proactively guiding clients through sales, site validation (via a dedicated engineer), project coordination, and post-installation support.

Full-Cycle Sales Ownership

  • Manage the entire sales journey for assigned clients
  • Lead qualification & consultative selling across various digital platforms
  • Site data collection coordination with an assigned field engineer
  • Proposal, negotiation & closing
  • Pre-installation coordination including documentation, timelines, and permits
  • Post-installation support for system activation, handover, and referrals

Client Account Management

  • Serve as the single point of contact for the client from first call to final commissioning
  • Track all project stages, proactively inform the client, and resolve delays or questions
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and timely for handoff to Ops

Coordination & Handover

  • Coordinate closely with assigned site engineers, permitting, and project teams to ensure a smooth installation and customer handover experience
  • Attend internal handoff and kick-off meetings to ensure project context is fully shared
  • Prepare all client records, permits, and payment terms prior to installation
  • Collaborate with the other functions (i.e. Marketing) to develop and implement effective sales strategies and promotional activities

Product Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company's solar products, services, and pricing structures.
  • Analyze objections and close reasons to identify patterns and optimize pitch.

Reporting & CRM Management

  • Keep CRM fully updated with notes, progress, and customer preferences.
  • Submit regular status reports to sales & organization leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field.
  • Sales training or certification in Sales, Renewable Energy, or CRM software is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Technical sales, preferably in power industry, renewable energy, automobile, construction, or utilities.
  • Proven track record in lead generation, sales pipeline management, and closing deals.
  • Experience in residential rooftop solar sales is an advantage but not required.

Sales and Business Acumen:

  • Strong B2C sales experience, with the ability to engage homeowners, small businesses, and decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with lead generation strategies (referrals, cold calling, social media, networking).
  • Knowledge of sales cycle management, customer acquisition, and negotiation techniques.
  • Experience using CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) for tracking leads and sales performance.

Communication and Customer Engagement:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective sales pitches and presentations.
  • Strong active listening skills to understand customer needs and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to handle objections, negotiate, and close deals confidently.
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

Technical Knowledge (Solar Industry is a plus but not required):

  • Basic understanding of solar energy, net metering, and system components.
  • Ability to explain cost savings, return on investment (ROI), and financing options for solar systems.
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated on solar technology, policies, and industry trends.

Organization

This role reports to a Sales Team Lead. This role collaborates with various departments including Operations, Customer Experience, Marketing, Digital, and Consumer Finance.
