Job Description

We're Hiring: Account Director – Finance & Accounting Operations!

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Account Director – Finance & Accounting Outsourcing to own and grow a high-performing offshore delivery vertical. This is a senior, client-facing leadership role responsible for directing large-scale operations, cultivating senior client relationships, and driving organic growth across a portfolio of US and Australian clients.

As Account Director, you are the senior point of accountability for client relationships, delivery excellence, and vertical growth. You own the end-to-end client experience from pre-sales and transition through steady-state operations — ensuring that engagements are profitable, scalable, and positioned for expansion. You lead a 200+ headcount delivery organisation and work closely with presales, solutions, and talent teams to build and sustain a high-growth FAO vertical.

The role requires deep expertise across finance and accounting outsourcing operations, including AR, AP, GL, reporting, and audit, combined with strong commercial acumen to manage client P&Ls, support presales pursuits, and drive sustainable growth. The Account Director must be equally comfortable in the boardroom with senior client stakeholders and on the floor resolving delivery challenges.

What You'll Do:

  • Own senior client relationships across US and Australian accounts, serving as the primary executive point of contact for C-suite and VP-level stakeholders
  • Drive end-to-end delivery accountability across FAO functions including AR, AP, GL, reporting, and audit, ensuring SLA adherence, quality outcomes, and client satisfaction
  • Provide operational oversight across audit intake, billing, authorizations, CRM, payment posting, collections, and customer support
  • Consume and interpret AR-related reports, aging, denials, and collection trends to identify risks and priorities
  • Ensure clear ownership, handoffs, due dates, and next steps across teams
  • Monitor work queues, trackers, dashboards, and financial/operational reports to identify risks and bottlenecks
  • Drive timely resolution of audit issues, claim rejections, denials, authorization gaps, AR risks, and customer escalations
  • Partner cross-functionally with Audit, Billing, Coding, Collections, Finance, CRM, and Customer Support teams
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date tracking and documentation in HubSpot
  • Review operational and AR reports to ensure real-time visibility and data accuracy
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear updates and action plans for stakeholders
  • Lead transition management for new client onboarding and scope expansions, including knowledge transfer, process mapping, technology integration, and go-live planning, ensuring smooth ramp-up with minimal delivery risk
  • Identify recurring operational or AR issues and partner with teams to improve workflows and processes
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and PHI handling standards within daily operations
  • Own risk identification, escalation, and resolution for all client delivery issues; proactively surface risks to client stakeholders and internal leadership with clear remediation plans
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, productivity targets, and quality standards.
  • Support presales pursuits by contributing to RFP responses, solution design, pricing validation, and client presentations — bringing operational credibility and delivery insight to the sales process
  • Identify and pursue organic growth opportunities within existing accounts through scope expansion, additional services, and relationship deepening
  • Partner with senior leadership to define the FAO vertical's growth strategy, target client profile, and go-to-market approach for US and Australian markets
  • Build, develop, and retain a 200+ headcount delivery team — establishing career pathways, succession plans, and a high-performance culture
  • Define and own vertical-level KPIs, operational metrics, and financial targets; report performance to senior leadership and client stakeholders on a regular cadence

What We're Looking For:

  • 12–15 years of experience in Finance & Accounting Outsourcing (FAO), with a track record of managing large offshore delivery teams and complex multi-client portfolios
  • Background in finance, accounting, or accounts receivable strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of AR concepts including aging, write-offs, adjustments, underpayments, and collections
  • Demonstrated experience delivering FAO services to US and/or Australian clients, with working knowledge of relevant regulatory, tax, and reporting frameworks (GAAP/IFRS, IRS, ATO)
  • Experience working with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) and financial/operational reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage executive and C-suite client stakeholders, navigate complex governance structures, and build long-term trusted-advisor relationships
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data and translate it into actions
  • Proactive problem-solver with a high sense of ownership
  • Proven presales experience — including participation in RFP responses, solution solutioning, commercial modelling, and client pitch delivery
  • Strong transition management capability — experience designing and executing onboarding playbooks for large, complex engagements (500+ FTE transitions preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling large offshore teams (200+ headcount), including workforce planning, org design, and talent development
  • Executive presence and confident communicator able to represent the organisation at C-suite level and in competitive pursuits
  • P&L literacy — ability to understand and manage account-level financials, margin drivers, and commercial levers
