Key Responsibilities:
As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for all legal matters as they pertain to the areas of risk management, independence, finance, corporate governance and reporting, data protection, anti-money laundering and other functional and operational units. Some specific responsibilities include:
Conduct and lead investigations and participate in employee and ethics related cases (internal and external)
Policy drafting relating to employment, ethics and data privacy matters, among others
Conduct privacy impact assessment and required compliances related to data privacy
Providing in-house legal assistance, as necessary, across all business and functional units
Preparing, drafting and reviewing contracts between AC Manila and its clients and suppliers
Following up on developments in statutes and regulations as they affect the AC Manila and its regulatory compliance requirements
Providing dispute management assistance within the AC Manila, as required
Liaising and coordinating with our internal legal counsel within the shareholder and other PwC member firms, our regulators and government authorities like PEZA, BIR, SEC,LGU, NPC etc.
Assist in monitoring and completion of all statutory/regulatory reporting and compliance requirementsand
Other responsibilities not listed here but reasonably assumed to be a function of the Legal Counsel's position/role.
Essential Requirements:
Philippine Bar Exam Passer
Bachelor's Degree in Law
At least 4-5 years of legal experience with background on contracts, labor laws, Data Privacy and regulatory compliance.
Appearance in tribunals or other mediation forums, including litigation capabilities is essential.
Experience with the role of company secretary or secretary to a board or other governance bodies will be valuable, but not essential.
Familiarity with, and a working knowledge of, key government organizations such as PEZA, BIR, SEC and LGUs will be essential.
Other Capabilities:
Should be comfortable working and communicating with team members at all levels including senior management and executives.
Should be able to effectively communicate in English - verbal and written.
Should be a solution provider capable of consulting and researching adequately on matters at hand.
Should be able to work independently, when needed, with minimum supervision.
Should be willing to learn and expand their horizons in areas critical to the success of this role, that they may not have had previous exposure to.
Should have: organizational qualities, including working with IT tools, an eye for detail, a consciousness of confidentiality and professional secrecy considerations, maturity and versatility to take charge of both administrative and legal aspects.
Should be flexible, agile and can adapt to a fast paced environment.
