Technical Lead – Ab Initio Conversion

About the Role

Anblicks is looking for an experienced Ab Initio Technical Lead to lead the legacy code analysis and conversion workstream for large-scale data modernization programs. The role will focus on analyzing complex Ab Initio environments, defining conversion strategies, and ensuring that modernized solutions accurately reproduce production outputs.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Ab Initio, modern SQL, dbt, data migration, validation, and reconciliation, along with experience leading conversion initiatives within cloud data modernization programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and decompose complex Ab Initio graphs, workflows, and legacy data jobs.
• Translate legacy business and technical logic into detailed conversion specifications for modern SQL/dbt-based platforms.
• Lead the end-to-end Ab Initio conversion workstream, including analysis, design, development, validation, and production readiness.
• Develop and execute parity testing and validation frameworks to compare converted outputs against source production results.
• Define and implement data reconciliation strategies, parallel-run validation, defect resolution, and cutover activities.
• Lead and mentor the conversion team, providing technical direction and conducting code and conversion reviews.
• Collaborate with data architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to resolve conversion challenges and ensure alignment with modernization objectives.
• Support estimation, migration planning, effort refinement, and delivery planning.
• Drive adoption of conversion accelerators, automation frameworks, and AI-enabled tools to improve conversion efficiency and quality.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps within legacy implementations and recommend appropriate modernization approaches.
• Ensure converted solutions meet established standards for performance, scalability, data quality, and production readiness.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Migration, or Data Platform Modernization.
• 4+ years of strong hands-on Ab Initio development experience.
• Proven experience executing legacy-to-modern data platform conversions within large-scale modernization programs.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and dbt.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, parallel runs, migration planning, and production cutover.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms and modern data engineering architectures.
• Strong understanding of legacy code analysis, transformation logic, data lineage, and conversion methodologies.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing delivery across complex conversion programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL.
• Exposure to data lineage and metadata management tools.
• Experience with conversion accelerators and automated code-conversion frameworks.
• Exposure to AI-enabled modernization and migration tools.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise data migration or modernization programs.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
