What is the job

The A/R Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for managing unpaid or denied insurance claims, assisting with provider credentialing, and supporting patient collections to ensure timely reimbursement. The role focuses on accurate billing resolution, claim follow-ups, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to maintain compliance and efficiency.

• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected insurance claims.

• Investigate claim issues and take corrective action to obtain payment.

• Contact insurance companies for claim status updates and resolution.

• Submit corrected claims, appeals, and reconsiderations as needed.

• Work aging reports and outstanding balances to reduce accounts receivable.

• Document claim activity, follow-up actions, and payer communications accurately.

• Coordinate with providers, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing concerns.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in AR follow-up, medical billing, denial management, or revenue cycle operations.

• Experience in Microsoft Office and healthcare billing systems.

• Must have stable employment history.

• Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, VA, and other government payers.

• Experience with claim appeals and denial resolution.
