Summary
The WM Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring all client onboarding, account reviews, and recertification activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. The role focuses on conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) reviews, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring to mitigate financial crime, regulatory, and reputational risks.
Working closely with Business, Compliance, and Financial Security teams, the incumbent will provide advisory support on KYC, AML/CFT, sanctions, and client risk matters while contributing to the enhancement of the organization's compliance framework.
KYC & Client Onboarding
Review and approve new client account openings and periodic recertification cases.
Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and client risk assessments.
Ensure client profiles meet internal policies and regulatory AML/CFT requirements.
Assign appropriate client risk ratings based on due diligence findings.
Maintain minimal overdue recertification cases and ensure timely completion of reviews.
Compliance Advisory & Risk Assessment
Provide advisory support to business stakeholders on KYC, AML/CFT, sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), and adverse media matters.
Assess and escalate financial crime risks, including links to sanctioned countries or high-risk jurisdictions.
Support investment suitability and client risk profiling assessments where required.
Perform risk assessments and make recommendations regarding account restrictions and unblocking requests.
Transaction Monitoring & Investigations
Review client transactional activities and identify unusual or suspicious transactions.
Investigate potential AML/CFT concerns involving third-party payments, source of wealth/funds, or commercial activities.
Escalate suspicious activities and prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) where necessary.
Assist in monitoring high-risk and sensitive client relationships.
Governance, Controls & Regulatory Compliance
Perform financial security and compliance-related controls.
Conduct regulatory gap analysis and assess the impact of new regulations and consultation papers.
Keep abreast of regulatory developments from MAS and other relevant jurisdictions.
Participate in policy reviews, procedure enhancements, and KYC framework initiatives.
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Stakeholder Management & Training
Collaborate with Compliance, Financial Security, and Business teams across the region.
Present higher-risk client relationships to internal risk committees for approval.
Deliver training and guidance on AML, KYC, and regulatory developments to relevant stakeholders.
Prepare accurate management reports and escalation updates on onboarding and recertification activities.
Relevant experience in KYC, AML, Compliance, Financial Crime, or Client Onboarding.
Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and financial crime risk management.
Experience reviewing individual and corporate client accounts within banking or financial services.
Familiarity with sanctions screening, adverse media reviews, PEP assessments, and Enhanced Due Diligence.
Experience conducting investigations and preparing STRs is advantageous.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory and internal deadlines.
