Job Description

Job Title: Storage & Backup SME/L3

Location: Alabang, Muntinlupa(3 days RTO, 2 days remote)

Mode of Hiring: Full-time Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE:

As a member of the Infrastructure Shared Services Center, the Storage & Backup SME/L3 is a specialist who provides in-depth knowledge and expertise in the areas of data storage, data protection, disaster recovery, and backup technologies. This role is critical in IT environments where the integrity, availability, and recoverability of data are paramount.

This role will also be working closely with regional onshore L4 counterparts and our client as an SME. His/her technical exposure will also be the guidance in junior level as applied in their day-to-day activities as Infrastructure Storage & Backup support.

He/she will focus on keeping clients satisfied with the company's services in tracking service metrics, associated SLAs, contributing in the development and implementation of new activities for the Customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Design and Architecture:

Define and design storage and backup infrastructure (SAN, NAS, cloud storage, tape libraries).

Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions concerning to Storage & Backup environment.

2.Implementation and Configuration:

Define and design storage and backup infrastructure (SAN, NAS, cloud storage, tape libraries).

Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions concerning to Storage & Backup environment.

Escalation point of contact for any high-severity incidents (P1 or P2) that requires Storage & Backup SME support.

3.Monitoring and Maintenance:

Monitor storage capacity, performance, and backup success rates.

Conduct regular health checks and preventive maintainance.

4.Backup and Recovery:

Develop and maintain backup policies and schedules.

Test and validate restore procedures (disaster recovery, file-level recovery).

5.Incident and Problem Management:

Troubleshoot and resolve storage and backup-related incident as an SME

Work with vendors and support teams as needed

Manage to cover ticket reduction through Problem Management space via top polluter

Responsible for RCA report in relation to a high-severity incident (P1 or P2) that has been resolved by the Storage & Backup support.

6.Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain up-to-date documentation (configuration, procedures such as SOP, policies)

Provide capacity planning and utilization reports.

Manage to build a trust relationship with L4 onshore counterparts and with our client by managing weekly technical catchup with them as an SME

7.Security and Compliance:

Ensure data protection and encryption are enforced

Adhere to regulatory compliance requirements

8.Collaboration and Support:

Act as the escalation point for complex storage and backup issues/concerns.

Work closely with other technical teams such as Infrastructure, application, security teams & etc

Primary Technical abilities:

  • System Administration in Windows Server Operating Systems (W2K3, W2K8R2, W2K12)
  • Knowledge in ITIL/ITSM framework
  • Expert in Storage & Backup Management
  • 5-7years + of deep technical knowledge to the following Storage & Backup technologies such as:

CommVault Backup

Veeam Backup

Druva Backup

NetBackup

NetApp (storage)

Secondary Technical abilities:

  • Has understanding in IT Software and Hardware
  • Knowledge in any automation tools such as but not limited to C++, C#, C, Powershell , Python, CLI.

Behavior abilities:

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn and grow in the I.T. profession
  • Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department.
  • Customer service oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. English speaking mandatory.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize situations

  • Vmware (Enterprise and EnterprisePlus)
  • Cloud Environment: Azure- 3 years & AWS
  • Hardware: Dell servers XC720, XC730m R7xx
  • OS: W2K3 to W2K12R2
  • Backup: Commvault, Veeam, Druva & NetBackup
  • Storage: NetApp (Storage)
