Program Officer for Advocacy is responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of the advocacy strategies of the Foundation for specific agenda areas as identified by the long-term plan.
The position will execute relationship building with key decision-makers and thought leaders, using communication, outreach efforts and advocacy projects to engage key audiences and further establish the Foundation's reputation as a thought leader in its field.
The position will provide inputs in the formulation of the high-level engagement and communication campaigns.
Program Officer for Advocacy is expected to deliver in the following Key Result Areas:
Advocacy Agenda Building: Implements a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy to raise awareness and generate support for the Foundation's overall advocacy strategies in specific priority areas to key audiences such as opinion leaders, policy makers, and the general public; and tracks and analyzes relevant developments and policies in the local and international arena, to support the development of the Foundation's advocacy agenda.
Alliance Building: identifies and assesses opportunities for new partnerships and collaborations to advance the goals and objectives of the Foundation, the development, maintenance and strengthening of mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations with strategic organizations and stakeholders and the development and implementation of systems and processes to continuously evaluate and improve alliance building processes and practices.
Advocacy Projects: Collaborates with Foundation's teams as well as project partners in the management of advocacy projects and events including the assessment and reporting on the results of overall advocacy efforts
Resource Mobilization: works closely with the Foundation's teams in developing program proposals and reports for submission to prospective and current donors.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of Communications, Development Communication, Development Studies, Community Development or other related fields.
At least 5 years experience in corporate social responsibility program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and communications.
Experience in implementing media or digital advocacy engagement is an advantage.
Proficient in verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders, including staff, partners and beneficiaries.
Project management skills - strong organizational, planning, and effective management of budgets and timelines while providing support and coordinating multiple projects.
