Job Title : Network Engineer II

Job Location: Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Metro Manila / NCR


The role will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting enterprise grade network solutions that take into account appropriate redundancy, availability, scalability, security and manageability requirements for GC Services and their various business partners. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for the technical strategy, vision, architecture and evolution of the GCS IT Network infrastructure and associated technologies. This individual will work with other groups to plan and lead sustaining engineering activities such as network upgrades, enhancements, expansions and provide last-level support of escalated technical issues.

  • Research and analyze enterprise and/or business partner requirements then determine best applicable solutions for achieving optimal performance, spend and reliability.
  • Participate in hardware lifecycle management
  • Ensure that all Network diagrams and documentation is maintained and up-to-date including internal and clients and all network hardware.
  • Work with the Telecommunications Engineers on converged networks with an emphasis on Firewalls, WAN/LAN routing, switching, wireless and advanced QoS tuning.
  • Implement and support regulatory compliance, policies and procedures related to IT operations and security.
  • Support peers on other projects and tasks while balancing regular duties.
  • Assist with new technology investigations, coordinating implementations and support of new technologies entering the infrastructure, writing and updating service and procedural documentation, proposing and implementing process improvements, and working collaboratively with peers and support teams.
  • Record and respond to technical incidents and requests using the Service Desk ticketing system while adhering to performance goals.
  • Resolve connectivity and related technical issues within defined SLAs and document root cause and resolution.
  • Perform additional duties as required by management from time to time.
  • Participation in an on call rotation, the ability to provide availability after-hours, and include enforcement of GC Services Operations enterprise standards, policies, and procedures

  • 5+ years experience in network engineering, architecture and operations
  • Network Certifications preferred
  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Fortinet technologies preferred
  • Experience in private and public cloud is preferred
  • Proven experience in the implementation and maintenance of both virtual and physical environments
  • Familiarity with deploying and managing networks in a SaaS/Cloud environment
  • Design and configuration of routing and switching environments with emphasis on high availability, performance optimization and scalability
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting LAN and WAN topologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and manage complex projects
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery, failover networks and HA configurations
  • Knowledge of virtual networks such as VMWare NSX and AWS/Azure networking technologies
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
  • Experienced in deploying, upgrading and troubleshooting multivendor network equipment/solutions
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization and peers to reach common goals.
  • Must successfully pass background investigation and drug screen according to company policy.
  • Must produce a high level of contribution to the team environment and meet performance standards.
  • Proactive in understanding and staying up to date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a strong customer service focus.
  • Must be able to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must be able to write detailed reports and correspondence.
  • Must possess a strong ability to reason quickly and be able to shift attention to priority situations as necessary; must be able to reason with other technical staff to assist in the problem resolution process.
  • Relies on experience, judgment, and decision making skills to plan and accomplish goals and has the confidence to state opinion even when the majority disagrees.
  • Will be required at times to work a flexible schedule that provides needed coverage for customer service levels and/or time-sensitive projects.
