Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Media Assistant is responsible for transactions involving incoming media for ingest (storage) in ABS-CBN News NAS (News Automation System). He / She is required to encode the appropriate metadata for all ingested media to enable news platforms and other users to access the same immediately upon the start of the ingest process. He / She is also tasked to perform file based ingest operations, download media using FTP (DNG operations), dub-to-tape operations and file downloading and conversion.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

    • Performs single or multiple ingest operations on News Automation System (NAS) / technology adopted by ABS-CBN.
    • Performs Baseband or File based ingest operations using News Automation System (NAS) / technology adopted by ABS-CBN.
    • Performs Digital Newsgathering (DNG) operations, download or upload of audio and visual materials using File Transfer Protocol (FTP), cloud solutions, or any technology, service or application adopted by ABS-CBN.
    • Performs multi-format file download / upload and media file conversion, using social media applications or any approved file sharing solution.
    • Performs metadata input - encode metadata of ingested audio and visual materials in NAS.
    • Performs metadata input in MMR Coverage Log (log of ingested audio and visuals materials in NAS).
    • Performs input in MMR Coverage Log of all types of discrepancies during shift, including material discrepancies, shotlist inaccuracies, metadata inconsistencies, and other notable items. Perform proper turnover at end of shift to incoming team member.
    • Performs barcode scanning / Excel reportfor coverage media cards.
    • Performs download and ingest of audio and visual materials from wires service providers, official government social media channels, and sources approved by Newsgathering.
    • Performs quality check on incoming audio and visual materials for ingest in NAS.
    • Coordinates, Communicates, and works closely with MMR Tech, TechDesk, Newsgathering and news platforms. At all times, must be aware of and respond to all types of communications, including but not limited to verbal, phone, email, and social media apps adopted by ABS-CBN News.

REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • College Graduate (preferably mass communication course)
    • Good communication skills
    • Very knowledgeable in NAS tools and applications
    • At least 2 years of experience in news and/or current affairs production
