Job Description

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to internal and global users. This role supports the IT team in maintaining the smooth operation of IT systems and services by resolving user issues, escalating when appropriate, and ensuring a positive user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Log incoming support requests via phone, email, IT ticketing system (e.g., ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus / Service Now), MS Teams, or remote desktop tools
  • Monitor and manage assigned support tickets in the helpdesk system, escalating to senior staff when needed.
  • Follow procedures to route or dispatch tickets to appropriate IT groups.
  • Communicate known issues or outages to affected users and send out general alerts when necessary.
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting and resolution for standard IT issues (e.g., account access, software errors, basic network issues).
  • Use available resources (FAQs, documentation, knowledge base) to find solutions before escalating issues.
  • Assist in updating the IT knowledge base with solutions to common problems.
  • Adhere to IT support processes and procedures, including those based on ITIL principles.
  • Offer in-person assistance for walk-up support requests and equipment issues.
  • Assist in setting up, installing, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Help track and update inventory of IT equipment and assets.
  • Support software installation and reinstallation tasks.
  • Coordinate with senior IT staff or vendors for hardware replacements or equipment delivery.
  • Assist with routine hardware checks and office IT setups (meeting rooms, hot desks, etc.).
  • Conference room equipment set up

Skills And Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a technical support or helpdesk role.
  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology or related field is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Mac OS.
  • Exposure to Active Directory, Exchange, or Office 365 admin tools is required
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addresses, DNS, VPN, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Customer service orientation and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or Microsoft Fundamentals are a plus.
  • ServiceNow experience will be considered a plus
