Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for an Industrial Automation Engineer I. The role involves designing, developing, and improving industrial control systems with a focus on automation and robotics. Daily tasks include troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, optimizing process control systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards. The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider or similar platforms)
- Create and configure HMI/SCADA systems for operator interface and process visualization
- Develop control narratives, I/O lists, and system documentation
- Perform system testing and validation using simulation tools
- Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for operational systems
- Integrate control systems with databases, historians, and enterprise platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and operations
- Ensure systems meet safety, quality, and performance standards
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC, etc.)
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Nice to have Qualifications:
- Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar modern platforms
- Basic understanding of of SQL, Python, or scripting for data integration
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Experience with remote system deployment and support
