Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for an Industrial Automation Engineer I. The role involves designing, developing, and improving industrial control systems with a focus on automation and robotics. Daily tasks include troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, optimizing process control systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards. The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider or similar platforms)
  • Create and configure HMI/SCADA systems for operator interface and process visualization
  • Develop control narratives, I/O lists, and system documentation
  • Perform system testing and validation using simulation tools
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for operational systems
  • Integrate control systems with databases, historians, and enterprise platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and operations
  • Ensure systems meet safety, quality, and performance standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC, etc.)
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Nice to have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar modern platforms
  • Basic understanding of of SQL, Python, or scripting for data integration
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with remote system deployment and support

Work Environment:

  • Remote
  • Occasional travel may be required for commissioning or site support
