Financial Accountant

What are we looking for:

Our client, a distinguished US-based parcel shipping logistics company, is seeking a dynamic and talented Financial Accountant. In this multifaceted role, your responsibilities extend beyond ensuring the accurate documentation and reporting of financial data to actionable analysis and optimization of processes. We seek an individual who embodies professionalism and possesses impeccable English written and verbal communication skills.

Please note that this role is 100% remote work with daily and weekly virtual meetings with an international team. Primary work hours are during US EST Business hours.

Successful candidates must have access to an adequate computer for the first three months before the company will provide a company-owned computer, with a recent version of Excel and enough memory to allow installing security and monitoring software from day one.

In this role, you will:

  • Prospective Sales Data Analysis: Analyze data from external invoices in various formats (CSV, Excel, PDF) to determine rates, fees and discounts of the prospective client and determine if our sales team can beat those with our own rates.
  • Produce Comparative Sales Data: Includes running quotes in proprietary software and manipulating dependencies (ex: discounts and percentages) to produce the required projections.
  • Audit Billing Data: Conduct weekly audits on billing data for thousands of customer shipments to ensure the accuracy of information and proactively identify and rectify any errors or discrepancies that could potentially impact margins or result in unexpected charges.   • Run Monthly Commission Reports: Translating complex sales data into disbursements for the sales staff. Ensure that commission calculations align with company policies and sales performance metrics.
  • Process Optimization and Automation: Implement optimization strategies for audit and report processes, streamlining workflows, and ensuring efficiency. Develop and apply automation techniques in Excel to eliminate repetitive tasks, enhancing the accuracy and speed of regularly performed processes.
  • Regular Reporting and Review: Submit reports and audit results regularly for management review, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the data presented. Be prepared to answer inquiries and provide insights based on the information presented, contributing to informed decision-making. Incorporating feedback from management to improve the relevance and effectiveness of financial presentations.
  • Financial Information Presentation: Create comprehensive reports, charts, and graphs to effectively communicate financial and business trends to management.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management to address specific inquiries or to provide deeper insights into particular areas of interest. (Ex: Specific customer billing question.)
  • Collaborative Insights: Collaborate with a cross-functional team gathering relevant data and insights for comprehensive reporting to integrate operational insights with financial data, providing a holistic view of business performance. Review and incorporate data seamlessly with an outsourced accounting and bookkeeping firm, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach to financial management.

About You:

Core qualifications:

  • Meticulous attention to detail in all financial activities to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify financial trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Proactive problem-solving approach to address complex financial challenges.
  • Profound Excel skills are a must, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, Macros, and data visualizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adept at interpreting financial data to provide meaningful insights for informed decision-making.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective financial controls.
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to provide accurate deadlines based on an assessment of the task difficulty, workload, and leaving time for review and revision.
  • Task management ability to organize and update to provide transparency in following work tasks and accountability.
  • Adept at learning new platforms for data retrieval and ticketing.
  • Collaborative team player willing to contribute to the broader goals of the finance team.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and able to support the team with various accounting tasks and projects as needed. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the evolving needs of the management team.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a business services environment.
  • Higher education in finance/accounting.
  • Proven experience in accurately preparing and analyzing financial statements, and reports. Experience in conducting audits and providing strategic recommendations to enhance overall financial performance.

Technical Requirements (Device):

  • Laptop/Computer (at least 8GB RAM)
  • Headset (preferable noise canceling microphone)
  • Fast/Stable Internet Connection (At least 10 mbps)
