Supporting People. Strengthening Performance.
Ready to shape what's next At NRI, we turn technology into intelligence, delivering solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. Join our team of 3,500+ local experts backed by a global network of 16,000 team members and work on projects that truly make a difference for Australia's leading organisations.
Our Corporate Services teams power NRI behind the scenes - supporting our people, strengthening our foundations, and enabling sustainable growth. Their work ensures our business runs smoothly, scales effectively, and delivers on its commitments.
As a Business Process Engineer, you will help design, build and run intelligent automation solutions for our clients and that will improve how our HR, IT and Finance back‑office teams work. You will work closely with the BPE Director and business stakeholders to document processes, identify automation opportunities and implement RPA and agentic AI workflows. This role is hands‑on, combining process analysis, solution configuration and testing to deliver measurable efficiency, quality and experience improvements.
What You'll Do:
- Support process discovery by documenting current‑state processes using standard methods (e.g. process maps, BPMN diagrams, SIPOCs, SOPs).
- Analyse processes to identify steps suitable for automation and simplification.
- Lead the design and configure RPA and agentic AI workflows
- Build, test and deploy automation solutions using approved platforms, tools and standards.
- Develop and maintain technical and process documentation for all automations (design specs, configuration guides, test cases, runbooks).
- Execute unit, system and user acceptance testing for automation solutions; capture and resolve defects.
- Monitor automated workflows in production, troubleshoot issues and implement fixes or enhancements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by collecting data, measuring automation performance and suggesting optimisation opportunities.
- Work with cross‑functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate solutions.
- Set BPE team technical standards, including development guidelines, access controls, change management and testing practices.
- Support benefit tracking by providing data and insight on automation usage, error rates and processing times.
- Contribute to BPE playbooks, templates and reusable components to help scale automation delivery.
- Collaborate with the BPE Director on what process to automate, agree on what the measure of success is for those processes and activity monitor
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in business process engineering, automation development, business analysis or a related field.
- Experience with business process modelling and documentation (e.g. BPMN, SIPOC, swimlane diagrams, SOPs).
- Hands‑on experience with one or more RPA or intelligent automation platforms (e.g. major RPA tools, workflow engines preferably UIPATH).
- Exposure to or strong interest in agentic AI concepts (e.g. AI agents, LLM‑based workflows) and their integration into business processes.
- Familiarity with APIs, web services or integration techniques used to connect automation solutions to enterprise systems.
- Understanding of typical HR, IT and Finance back‑office processes and common automation use cases (e.g. employee onboarding, ticket handling, invoice processing).
- Awareness of enterprise architecture, security, risk and compliance considerations when designing and deploying automations.
- Ability to write clear, structured documentation for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to break down complex processes into clear steps and identify bottlenecks, manual work and error‑prone activities.
- Experience analysing data (e.g. volumes, cycle times, error rates) to assess automation suitability and impact.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues in automation workflows and integrations.
- Capability to propose pragmatic improvements that balance quick wins with longer‑term process optimisation.
- Comfort using metrics and dashboards to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments (e.g. sprints, Kanban, incremental releases).
- Ability to manage own tasks, estimate effort and meet agreed deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively with business stakeholders, architects and engineers.
- Openness to feedback and willingness to learn new tools, methods and technologies, especially in AI and automation.
- Structured approach to work with attention to detail and quality (including testing and documentation).
- Comfortable working with distributed or offshore team members using remote collaboration tools.
- Relevant certifications in RPA platforms, BPM, cloud or related technologies are highly regarded but not mandatory.
