Finance Business Partner – Logistics

Job Overview

The Finance Business Partner supports logistics and commercial leaders in making sound financial decisions across transport, warehousing, and distribution operations. The role turns financial and operational data into clear recommendations on pricing, profitability, cost control, and growth. Working closely with operations, sales, and finance teams, the position helps ensure that customer contracts and service decisions meet both operational needs and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Performance

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reviews for assigned business units or accounts.
Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating costs, and variances against plan.
Explain performance drivers and recommend actions to address risks or improve results.
Prepare management reports that connect financial results with operational measures such as volume, utilization, productivity, and cost per delivery or shipment.

Commercial and Operational Support

Evaluate customer pricing, tenders, contract renewals, and new service proposals for profitability.
Build business cases for fleet, warehouse capacity, technology, network expansion, and other investments.
Partner with operations to identify cost savings without compromising service quality.
Review customer, route, site, and service profitability to guide commercial and operational decisions.

Financial Controls and Collaboration

Monitor the financial impact of contract terms, billing issues, claims, and service changes.
Work with accounting to improve the accuracy of accruals, cost allocation, and management reporting.
Present financial findings and recommendations to business leaders in a clear, practical manner.
Support initiatives that improve data quality, reporting processes, and financial visibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or an MBA is an advantage.
At least 5–8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, or finance business partnering.
Experience in logistics, transport, warehousing, distribution, or another operations-intensive industry is preferred.
Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and business case development.
Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems and reporting tools such as Power BI.
Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, explain financial results to non-finance teams, and influence business decisions.
