Keep every client's books accurate, current, and under control. We're looking for an honest, adaptable Bookkeeper who can confidently manage reconciliations, payroll, compliance support, and day-to-day bookkeeping across a varied client portfolio. Role Overview

As our Bookkeeper/Accountant, you'll take ownership of the week-to-week accounting tasks that keep a growing advisory firm and its clients moving—managing bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, and compliance support across a portfolio of around 10 to 15 clients. You'll work directly with Nick in a small, easy-going Australian team where clear communication, sound judgement, and dependable follow-through matter more than corporate formality.

Key Responsibilities

Own the Weekly Books: Complete day-to-day bookkeeping across a varied portfolio of around 10 to 15 clients, adapting to each client's processes and requirements.
Keep Transactions Current: Enter client invoices, complete cash coding, and manage accounts payable and receivable tasks where required.
Reconcile with Confidence: Perform bank reconciliations and complex general ledger and account reconciliations accurately and on time.
Support Payroll: Process payroll-related tasks for assigned clients and keep supporting records complete and accurate.
Prepare Compliance Work: Assist with BAS and IAS preparation, including all relevant reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Back the Tax Team: Provide bookkeeping records and practical support for tax work as required.
Work Across Systems: Maintain accurate records using Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
Keep Communication Clear: Ask clarifying questions early, provide straightforward updates, and work comfortably across different client communication styles.

Skills & Experience

2+ years Australian bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting or advisory firm.
Strong experience in bank reconciliations and complex account and general ledger reconciliations.
Strong Xero proficiency; experience with MYOB, QuickBooks, or other related accounting systems is highly regarded.
Confident Microsoft Excel skills.
Xero certification and Microsoft Excel certifications are highly regarded.
High attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and the adaptability to work across different client styles.
Confident asking clarifying questions and raising issues early.
