Leads:A cross-functional show team – sales, marketing, operations, buyer acquisition, and content

An entire industry has a place to meet three days a year. You're the reason it's worth their time. But you don't run an event. You run a marketplace where buyers meet sellers. And you own the numbers at the top and bottom of it.

The Opportunity

As Event Director, you will own one or more of our trade fair brands end to end. You will set the long-term vision, hit (and beat) the commercial targets, keep customers at the centre of everything you do, and lead a multidisciplinary team across sales, marketing, operations and content.

You will be the recognised face of your shows in their industries, and the connective tissue between MMI Asia and the wider Messe München global network. This is a role with genuine ownership and the autonomy to make your mark.

What You'll Own

Strategy & growth

Define the 3–5 year vision and annual strategy for your portfolio, identifying where to grow – new sectors, new geographies and new formats across live, hybrid and digital.
Spot and develop new opportunities, from feature zones and co-located conferences to brand extensions, geo-clones and greenfield launches across ASEAN.
Use customer insight, market data and competitor intelligence to keep your shows ahead of the curve.

Commercial & P&L ownership

Own the full P&L for your portfolio – budgeting, forecasting, pricing and growing margin year on year.
Set and steer sales targets across exhibition space, sponsorship and partnerships, working hand in hand with your sales team and commercial leaders.
Report performance, risks and opportunities clearly and on time to the General Manager and leadership.

Customer & market

Build and protect strong relationships with key exhibitors, sponsors, associations, partners and senior industry stakeholders.
Champion an outstanding experience for exhibitors and visitors – tracking satisfaction and loyalty, and acting on what you learn.
Represent your brands at industry events and in the media as a credible, well-connected voice.

People & leadership

Build, lead, coach and inspire a high-performing, cross-functional show team.
Set clear goals, give honest feedback, and create an environment where people grow and do their best work.

Delivery & operations

Oversee flawless end-to-end delivery of every edition – from concept and planning to onsite execution and post-show review.
Partner with operations teams, venues and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality, well-run events.
Direct the marketing and product development plans that drive visitor and exhibitor numbers.

Network & collaboration

Work within a matrix structure, coordinating with teams and departments across the global Messe München network.
Share and adopt best practice in data, marketing and commercial infrastructure across the portfolio.

What You'll Bring

10+ years of commercial track record, P&L responsibility and growth obsession – notnecessarilyin exhibition or B2B events industry
5+ years leading and developing multinational, cross-functional teams.
ASEAN launch and growth experience mixed with comfortworking across cultures and time zones.
An analytical, detail-minded approach and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Excellent written and spoken English; additional ASEAN languages are a plus.
Willingness to travel across the region and to work flexibly around event peaks.
