We are seeking a meticulous, self-directed Intermediate Bookkeeper with strong Xero expertise to manage full-charge financial recordkeeping, payroll, and compliance reporting for an Australian client portfolio. Operating 100% remotely during daytime business hours and reporting to the Business Manager, you will oversee end-to-end AP/AR processing, execute payroll and Single Touch Payroll (STP) filings, perform month-end reconciliations, and drive internal control best practices.

Your Impact

Xero Financial Recordkeeping & Reconciliations: Maintain precise transactional records in Xero-coding sales, purchases, receipts, and journals; perform routine bank, credit card, loan, and payment gateway reconciliations; investigate and resolve unallocated or unmatched transactions.
Full-Cycle AP & AR Management: Process supplier invoices, prepare payment batches for authorization, resolve account discrepancies, generate customer invoices, and professionally pursue overdue accounts receivable.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance Execution: Manage payroll processing, leave accruals, PAYG withholding, and superannuation contributions; file STP reports; prepare GST reviews and supporting documentation for Business Activity Statement (BAS) lodgments.
Month-End Reporting & Internal Controls: Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations; generate profit-and-loss, balance sheet, cash-flow, and aged ledger reports; maintain strict document control, data confidentiality, and segregation of duties.
Process Optimization & Administration: Collaborate with leadership to document, streamline, and automate bookkeeping workflows in Xero while assisting accountants with year-end compliance requirements.

What You Bring

Education & Certifications: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Certificate IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping, or relevant higher qualification. Xero Certification and TPB BAS Agent registration are highly desirable.
The Experience:2 to 3 years of hands-on Australian bookkeeping experience, demonstrating expertise in Xero, AP/AR operations, payroll, STP reporting, and BAS preparation.
Technical Mastery: Intermediate to advanced Xero capability, solid knowledge of Australian GST rules, PAYG withholding, superannuation, and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Internal Controls & Security: Comprehensive understanding of financial control framework, payment approval protocols, and strict confidentiality standards. A National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
Core Skills: Exceptional accuracy, proactive problem-solving, strong time management under tight filing deadlines, and professional written and verbal English communication.
