THE ROLE

The Tax Preparer will support the preparation of individual and business tax returns, review financial documents, assist with tax research, respond to tax notices, and work closely with Tax Managers and team members to deliver accurate and timely client service.

LOCATION: Must be residing in the Philippines – Remote.

ENVIRONMENT: Philippines and International Teams.

LANGUAGE: Advanced English (B2+ - C1)

WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time (12:00 AM – 9:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

Essential Functions

Tax Preparation & Compliance

Review financial documents and client-provided information to support accurate tax return preparation.
Prepare individual, S-corporation, C-corporation, LLC, and partnership tax returns with guidance from senior team members.
Prepare continuously for major tax deadlines throughout the year and help ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Assist with corporate income tax, pass-through entity, and individual tax compliance work as needed.

Tax Research & Client Support

Research tax issues, potential deductions, liabilities, and filing requirements as assigned.
Support the development and execution of tax strategies in collaboration with Tax Managers and other team members.
Interview or communicate with clients when necessary to gather information and help determine appropriate next steps.
Review and respond to IRS and state correspondence, including tax notices, with appropriate guidance and oversight.

Accounting & Documentation

Assist with accounting-related tasks as necessary to support tax preparation and client service needs.
Prepare adjusting journal entries and reconcile corporate accounting records to prior and current year tax returns when applicable.
Maintain organized documentation and follow firm procedures for file preparation, review notes, and client records.
Help set up installment agreements for clients with the IRS and state agencies, with training provided as needed.

Team Collaboration & Training

Work directly with Tax Managers to clear review points and incorporate feedback into final work product.
Collaborate with staff and clients in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner.
Attend regular tax meetings with team members and management to stay aligned on deadlines, updates, and best practices.
Build technical skills through hands-on training, coaching, and exposure to a wide range of tax matters.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3 years of hands-on experience preparing US income tax returns for individuals and businesses.
Proven experience preparing US tax forms including 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related filings.
Experience working through at least more than one US tax season.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in tax preparation.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced tax environment.
