What will you do

As anIntermediate to Senior Mechanical Engineer,you will be focused on the mechanical engineering and modelling of data centre backup power fuel systems.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams locally and offshore, you will apply sound engineering judgement, Aurecon's values, and New Zealand design standards to deliver practical, sustainable, and client-focused solutions. This role supports Aurecon's commitment tobringing ideas to life, creating positive outcomes for communities, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing global workforce.

As a Mechanical Engineer, the scope of work and role will be as follows:

Design fuel storage, distribution, and transfer piping systems for backup power applications.
Develop andmaintainRevit models for mechanical and piping systems.
Perform hydraulic calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, and pumpselection.
Produce coordinated spatial layouts and resolve design clashes with other disciplines.
Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and engineering calculations.
Support compliance with relevant fuel storage and piping standards.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project teams throughout project delivery.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to project stakeholders.

What can you bring to the team

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need the following:

Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical or piping engineering.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Relevant modelling and design softwareproficiency, particularly Revit.
Proven experience in oil & gas, fuel systems, or industrial piping design.
Experience in piping layout and detailed engineering design.
Demonstrated capability in hydraulic analysis, pipe sizing, and pump sizing.
Strong understanding of engineering design principles and constructability.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong client-facing communication skills and experience working in virtual environments.
Experience with backup fuel systems in datacenters, hospitals, or mission-critical facilities.
Knowledge of relevant standardsis a plussuch as:
AS 1940
NFPA 30
API Standards
ASME B31 Series
Experience working with steelpressurepiping systems.
