Senior Staff Accountant (Supporting 3 Startups)

OptimEdge is a fast-growing IT Strategy and Consulting firm supporting small and midmarket companies in optimizing systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and ensuring compliance.

This is not a traditional accounting role. You'll work in a highly entrepreneurial environment, supporting three startup companies simultaneously. If you prefer a large, structured company with established processes, this may not be the right fit. You'll play a critical role in shaping scalable financial operations across multiple growing businesses.

What You'll Do

Multi-Company Accounting (Three Startups)

Own day-to-day QuickBooks Online accounting for three startup companies, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent financial records across entities
Manage multiple ledgers while maintaining clarity, organization, and strong internal controls

Financial Record Maintenance

Record and reconcile transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, maintaining audit-ready records at all times

Financial Statements & Analysis

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
Analyze trends, variances, and discrepancies, and clearly communicate insights to leadership

Reporting & Planning

Produce recurring and ad-hoc financial reports for leadership
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections to guide decision-making in a startup environment

Compliance & Audit Support

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
Assist with audit preparation and stay current on evolving accounting standards

Systems & Process Setup

Set up and manage QuickBooks Online accounts, including building and maintaining charts of accounts from scratch
Leverage QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Expensify to streamline AP, expense reporting, and payment workflows
Continuously improve processes to support scaling operations

Collaboration

Work closely with founders, leadership, and cross-functional teams
Operate comfortably in a hands-on, fast-moving startup environment where priorities evolve

Requirements (Expect)

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of hands-on, day-to-day accounting experience
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Expensify
Proven experience setting up accounting systems and charts of accounts
Comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial startup environment
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities across multiple companies
